Women of Bath – New Street Map for International Women’s Day

March 5, 2021

International Women’s Day – 8 March 2021.  To celebrate the achievements of women with a connection to Bath, BRLSI in co-operation with Bath Spa University, has designed a map with the street names changed to highlight some of the extraordinary women who have lived in Bath. The women have all been selected from a BRLSI booklet written by Jane Sparrow-Niang: Bath’s Extraordinary Women. They include Mary Wollstonecraft, Adela Breton, Catherine Macaulay, Angela Carter, Jane Austen, Mary Shelley, Caroline Herschel and many more. BRLSI has also held an exhibition of extraordinary women at its headquarters in Queen Square. We would like to involve you in this project by asking you to submit the names of additional women you believe should be included in the Bath Women’s Map and do give a few reasons for your choice.
