The Story behind the Face – workshop
Sue Boyle & Ann Cullis
Sat 3 February, 2024 10:30 am - 1:00 pm GMT
£4.00 – £8.00An interactive workshop for readers and writers, led by Sue Boyle & Ann Cullis.
Inspired by the recent Face to Face exhibition at the Museum of Bath at Work, the workshop will include visual images, performance readings and discussion to celebrate the arts of portraiture and fine writing, both for their own sakes and as springboards for new work.
Sue is keen to hear from anyone who would like to play an active part in the development and presentation of The Story Behind the Face.
Poet and events organiser Sue Boyle has been contributing to the BRLSI programme for many years. She is a widely published poet who has given festival workshops in Exeter, Appledore and Torbay. Her verse novel, The Letters from Mexico, and meditations on the Holocaust, Report from the Judenplatz, have each received full stage performances as well as featuring in invited guest readings across the West Country.
Ann Cullis was the Arts Development Manager at Bath & North East Somerset Council until 2019. She devised and led the programme of World War One Centenary commemorations on behalf of the Council, and with Sue Boyle co-curated five commemoration events presented in the BRLSI, exploring each year through literature and music. Ann is a Trustee of the Museum of Bath at Work where she led on the research for ‘Face to Face’, an exhibition of Victorian and Edwardian portrait photographs of working people in Bath.
