Epilepsy is a neurological disorder of brain activity where symptoms range widely from conspicuous muscular twitching to staring blankly for a few seconds, as if in a daydream. In this recording of a live talk, Dr Mark Manford explores the understanding of epilepsy through the ages, from its earliest descriptions to our current understanding. He explains how epilepsy has been one of the pillars in our growing comprehension of brain function and discusses treatments, their limitations and hopes for the future.
Mark Manford is a clinical neurologist and Bath Royal’s Science & Medicine co-convenor
