Saving BRLSI in the 1990s

March 6, 2024

BRLSI is celebrating two hundred years of being at the centre of the cultural life of Bath, but its collections were put into storage in World War II, then the building came under the control of the council. Who were the brave souls bringing the institution back into being? Michael King, secretary of the Friends of BRLSI (who helped revive the organisation) and then a BRLSI Trustee, recalls how the hurdles to rebuilding the Institution in the late 1980s and early 1990s were overcome. The talk is preceded by a short video on the first two hundred years of the Institution.
