Donald Trump says ‘torture works,’ while 29% of the British public surveyed thought the use of torture could sometimes be justified. What can we learn from torture survivors from around the world and can the use of torture be prevented? In this recording of a live interview, BRLSI’s Convenor for World Affairs, David Haywood, talks to Dr Alison Wickert, Medico-Legal Report Doctor at Freedom From Torture about this much debated topic. She points out that regardless of any moral arguments, torture is always illegal according to international law whatever the circumstances. Freedom From Torture stands with survivors, providing therapy and support, and fighting for change with them.
