Duncan McGibbon, Poetry Convenor for BRLSI, reads a poem by the Irish writer Patrick Kavanagh (21 October 1904 – 30 November 1967) reflecting on his deceased mother. Kavanagh was born the son of a shoemaker in a rural part of Ireland (Inniskeen) and is considered one of the country’s finest 20th Century poets.
