The Reverend Francis Kilvert (1840-79) was one of the most evocative of Victorian diarists, revealing a craftsman’s sensitivity when delicately depicting both nature and people. His close promimity to Bath made it the town he most frequently described and wondrously quirky were many of the Bath sights he recorded. In this recording of a live talk held on October 6th 2021, Dr Boyd Schlenther, Emeritus Reader in History, Aberystwyth University, introduces us to Kilvert’s captivating work.
