Amelia Gentleman on the Windrush Scandal

May 7, 2021

Amelia Gentleman became a member of the Press Association in 1995 and joined the Guardian as a trainee a couple of years later. Amelia works for The Guardian, where she has mainly written features concerning UK Government policy, receiving numerous awards for her work, including the Orwell Prize in 2012. Much of her work has been focused on the impact of HMG immigration policy on elderly, Caribbean born long-term UK residents. This exposé had a consequential impact on the Government, leading to resignation of the Home Secretary, apologies being issued and policy changed – it also gave rise to her book The Windrush Betrayal.
