Oct 8th – Hustings meeting for BRLSI Board Election candidates (BRLSI members only)

This year four elected posts on BRLSI’s Board of Directors become vacant, with five candidates standing for election. On Monday 8th October at 7.30pm there will be a pre-election Hustings Meeting at BRLSI, where the candidates will make short presentations and take questions from the audience (note that admission to this meeting is for BRLSI members only – please bring your membership card).
BRLSI’s Board of Directors is responsible for the overall management of the Institution, having the final say on everything from our exhibitions and lecture programme to staffing levels and the maintenance of our Grade I listed building. It has 15 members, seven nominated by bodies including Bath University and B&NES Council, and eight elected by BRLSI’s members. Elected Directors serve a term of three years, with a maximum of three consecutive terms.
The actual election (again for BRLSI members only) will take place at BRLI’s AGM on Wednesday 31st October – note that the start time for this meeting is 7.15pm (doors open 7.00pm), and that the doors will close at 7.30pm. Members have already been sent their ballot papers (with our newsletter mailing in early September) – each paper is numbered and duplicates cannot be issued, so please be sure to bring your ballot paper, and membership card, with you. Alternatively you can vote by post – details are on the ballot paper, and the closing date is Friday 26th October.
Elected Directors give BRLSI members have a direct say in the running of BRLSI, and the Hustings are your chance to meet the candidates face to face. Details of the candidates, with brief statements, can be found on the back of the ballot form.
