Modernism’s a triumph at BRLSI weekend

It takes some doing to get a full house at 10.30am, but such was the interest in BRLSI’s Modernism Weekend that the Elwin room was, indeed, packed for the opening lecture, and remained that way until Sunday afternoon.  The audience were rewarded with an outstanding programme of talks on the arts in Europe between 1895 and 1935, from the paintings of Matisse and Picasso to the woodcut expressionism of early 20th Century Germany, via such names as Schoenberg, Kafka, Woolf and Wyndham Lewis

To get a flavour of the Modernism Weekend (or relive it if you were there), watch the video above, with clips of the speakers and a summary of the weekend by its organiser, Dr Robert Blackburn.
