Modernism Weekend at BRLSI

BRLSI’s major cultural event this Autumn is the Modernism Weekend, on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th October. Organised by BRLSI Literature and Humanities Convenor Dr Robert Blackburn, it features seven lectures on the arts in Europe between 1895 and 1935.

Subjects range from painting in France, Italy and Spain to Virginia Woolf’s search for new form, with speakers from institutions including Sothebys, Oxford University and Humboldt University, Berlin. Each lecture is followed by a Q&A session, and there’s time and space for further discussion in the coffee room between talks.
The weekend starts at 9.45 on Saturday morning, and finishes at 4pm Sunday. Entry to individual lectures is available at our standard price of £4, or £2 for BRLSI members and students (please bring your membership card/student ID).  However you can make a big saving by buying a weekend ticket (all seven lectures) in advance for just £15 (£10 members/students) from Bath Festivals Box Office (01225 463362 or click here to book online). Weekend tickets will also be available on the door for £18 (£12 members/students).
