London-based artist Matthew Hawkes is holding his first exhibition for five years this week at BRLSI.
Known for his thoughtful treatments of everyday subjects often in very small formats, he will be showing oil paintings of plants; landscapes from his time in France; and a new series of paintings of the sea at Littlehampton where he grew up.
He will also be showing for the first time a series of unusual and beautiful paintings which use only black and white pigments.
The show will be open from Thursday 21st to Tuesday 26th November (except Sunday) from 10-4pm in the Jenyns Room. There will be an opening reception on Friday 22nd from 6pm.
