Extreme Weather: What is it? Why does it matter? What can we do about it? 22 June 2017 7.30pm

Physicists and psychologists analyse data from instruments and people to track the forces and actions that lead to death and destruction in places hit by a once-in-a-lifetime storm. This talk will identify some causes and impacts of extreme weather, describe recent spectacular advances in forecasting capability, and address some multi-disciplinary challenges that are currently bringing physical and social scientists to work together.
