Other Information
This species is only attached to the rock at the centre and the bright orange or yellow lobes are free and remarkably wrinkled. It is rarely fertile but has knobbly projections (isidia) on the surface that can break off and form new specimens. Xanthoria parietina is similar but fertile, with dark orange fruiting bodies (apothecia) in the centre. It is common on trees but also grows on walls.
