A walk, a talk and tea for BRLSI and the Jane Austen society

BRLSI welcomes opportunities to collaborate with other groups, and today it joined forces with the Jane Austen Society for a walking tour round The Bath Jane Austen Knew, followed by a talk on Chapters in the Austen Family’s Life by a direct descendant of the Austen Family – and a welcome cup of tea afterwards.
Pictured above from left are: Betty Suchar (Chairman of Management Committee, BRLSI), Patrick Stokes, the afternoon’s speaker, immediate past Chairman of the Jane Austen Society and a direct descendant of Admiral Charles Austen, Jane Austen’s brother; Diana White; Marie Louise Luxemburg (Chair of BRLSI’s Programme Committee); Anne Davis (Jane Austen Society).
Betty Suchar said “BRLSI works with an ever-growing list of cultural and scientific organisations in the region, from the Herschel Astronomical Society to Bath Music Festival, the Gaskell Society and the Cercle Francais, and we’re always interested to hear of further ideas. A walking tour in the city, which is so closely associated with Jane Austen, then a talk by someone with a direct link to her, made a very special combination”.
