The next in our The Unsettled Mind: Psychoanalysis in the Age of Anxiety series explores the subject of Grief.

Grief is messy, non-linear, and utterly unique to you. But why does the culture offer so little structured support?

Meghan Riordan Jarvis has created an approach to grief that is built on neuroscience, bioscience, grief and trauma theories, cultural wisdom and ritual. Her powerful approach offers transformative concepts and techniques that help process pain, rediscover your identity, and find unexpected meaning. She has built her entire career on a single, radical act — telling people the truth about grief when everyone else in their life is too scared to.

A licensed psychotherapist and trauma specialist with twenty years of clinical practice, Meghan knows grief from both sides of the therapy room. After losing both of her parents and developing PTSD, she stopped pretending she had all the answers and started writing about what she actually knew. The result was two books that have changed the way readers understand loss: the memoir End of the Hour (Zibby Books, 2023) and the clinical guide Can Anyone Tell Me? (Sounds True, 2024).
