This free walk is one of the events to mark the Bicentenary of Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution and the 90th Anniversary of The Mayor of Bath’s Honorary Guides.

In the early 1800s, important advances were made in and around Bath in the new science of geology, which enabled the industrialisation of Britain. This walk will visit several locations in the city centre which were significant to that work and explain why, at its formation, BRLSI saw itself as “the cradle of English geology”.

Numbers are limited and booking via Eventbrite is essential – please go to Book Tickets for all details. The walk starts in Sydney Gardens (at the back of the Holburne Museum) and finishes at BRLSI where you can explore the World Revealed Exhibition.

We have other walks arranged with the Mayor’s Guides this summer – I see no ships – Nelson & Bath and Now & Then: 1850s Bath vs today via the photography of Lockey.
