Plastics: are they fantastic?

Are plastics fantastic? Whether we like it or not, plastics are not only impossible to avoid, but they are also immensely useful and make possible many familiar aspects of present-day life. In this talk Professor Matthew Jones explores what makes plastics such a versatile class of materials and how important they are to modern society. But if plastics pose such a serious environmental problem once we have finished with them, what do we begin to do about peoples over reliance on them?  Matthew discusses end-of-use options for plastics and the current methods available to recycle them.
