Nanoplastics: a hidden pathway from pollution to people

Plastic pollution is found in every environment studied, from mountaintops to ocean depths. Attention is now turning to nanoplastics—particles less than 1 micrometer in diameter, similar in size to viruses. These are the smallest and potentially most biologically active fraction.

As we study how these particles move through ecosystems and food webs, concerns are growing for both environmental health and human exposure.
