How 5G will impact Bath and its residents

The ONE WORD project is an 18 month UK Government (DSIT) funded project collaborating with 12 partner organisations including BANES Council & WECA – to deliver an ultra-high speed, high density 5G mobile network using newly developed OpenRAN mobile network technology in Bath, Cardiff and Shrewsbury.

Blending Bath’s history with new tech is a common challenge, so how have we done it?  How can an R&D test bed provide a useful local amenity? What can this teach us for the future roll out and improvement of UK mobile telecoms?

Peter Gradwell (Programme Lead (ONE WORD) and Commercial Director, Telet) has been in Bath for over 20 years and has worked his way through various telecoms monopolies – fixed line, broadband and is now working on mobile. He’s an experienced commercial and technical leader, having founded “Gradwell Communications”, “IQ Mobile” and most recently as part of Telet where he is leading the £14m ONE WORD project consortium.
