Art from the Spirit World

An art insider’s look at artists such as Richard Dadd, Georgiana Houghton and the “Elizabethan Magus” John Dee, who all claimed their work was a direct manifestation of spirit-world intelligence.

Sean Jefferson shares his investigations into artists who say their work has been assisted by guiding hands from the spirit world or uncensored expression direct from their unconscious.

Sean will also discuss the origins of his own artistic practice, including mediumistic training, hard core scientific study at Imperial College and the underground culture of the 1970s.

Sean Jefferson came to Fine Art through automatic drawing whilst training as a spriritualist medium, accurate biological illustration as part of his microbiology degree at Imperial College and Surrealist “Depth Psychology” automatism. This unusual combination of techniques and training has given him a signature artistic style. He has exhibited both in the UK and internationally and has his third solo exhibition in London in December this year.
