Samba and Bossa-Nova are familiar musical styles from Brazil, but years before these emerged it was Choro music and Maxixe dances that rocked the world. In this recording of a live event, Join Mike Pryor, Dave Griffiths and some musical friends share this infectious music and its social history from its beginnings in the 1860s to the present day. Mike and Dave have been playing Choro together in the band ‘Brejeiro’ since 2005 when they first got the Choro bug. Join them as they transport you to the sunshine and sparkle of Brazil, playing live with humour and joy to illustrate this talk. The event was held on November 21st 2021.
