There are many ways in which our psychology influences what we eat, whether through our deliberate choices (such as the plans we make in line with our values and intentions), through non-conscious processes (such has habits or ‘nudging’), or more indirect routes such as social modelling from the people around us.  Part of the discussion around how we can combat climate change has focussed on what we eat, and in particular the significant impact that reducing the amount of meat and dairy we consume could have. But how can we bring this about when meat and dairy are such a central and enjoyable part of many people’s lives?

This talk by Professor Fiona Gillison, University of Bath, will outline the different psychological influences on what we eat, and take a look at the implications for how we might help and encourage people to reduce the impact of their diets on climate change.
