Journalist, historian, author, and Vietnam War veteran Marc Leepson will discuss the amazing tale of Doug Hegdahl, the youngest and lowest-ranking American POW captured in North Vietnam and held in Hanoi during the American war.
It’s based on his best-selling book, The Unlikely War Hero: A Vietnam War POW’s Story of Courage and Resilience in the Hanoi Hilton, which Tim O’Brien (The Things They Carried) called “a strange, fascinating, and ultimately powerful account of one man’s endurance of life as a POW during the American war in Vietnam,” that “will stand the test of time as one of the finest nonfiction narratives to emerge from” the war.
Marc Leepson, a Vietnam War veteran, is an author, historian and journalist. He is Senior Writer, Arts Editor and columnist for the VVA Veteran, the magazine of the Vietnam Veterans of America. He lives in Virginia in the United States of America.
Please note the speaker will not be appearing in person but will shown on the large screen. You can buy a ticket to come to Queen Square and watch the talk on the large screen, or watch live remotely by buying a Watch Online ticket.
