Epilepsy is a neurological disorder of brain activity where symptoms range widely from conspicuous muscular twitching to staring blankly for a few seconds, as if in a daydream. This talk explores the understanding of epilepsy through the ages, from its earliest descriptions to our current understanding. The talk will explain how epilepsy has been one of the pillars in our growing comprehension of brain function and will discuss treatments, their limitations and hopes for the future.
