Still-life drawing workshop

Enjoy a morning of experimentation and creativity with our first still-life workshop.

A still life arrangement, possibly two, will be set up for you to draw over the three hours.

The tutor, Jane Hildreth, will give an initial introduction and look at some different approaches which could inspire you, then you will be drawing for the rest of the time. Jane will be on hand throughout to provide individual feedback, teaching and encouragement.

All levels of experience are welcome; those with more experience will be able to use the three hours to fully focus on their techniques and experiment with new ones, should they choose to!

Materials: all basic materials will be supplied but you are very welcome to bring your own sketchbook and favoured drawing equipment. If you want to buy anything, The Green Street Art Shop (in Bath) will offer you a 10% discount if you mention Jane.

Jane Hildreth, an RCA graduate (1980), worked in design and publishing before training as an art teacher in 2001. She retired from full-time teaching in 2020 but continues to teach and support creativity through online and in-person classes across the UK, including a drawing courses at BRLSI.

Her practice spans drawing, watercolour, mixed media and ceramics, combining close observation of nature with an abstract, materials-focused approach. Her work explores everyday objects, transformation, and the beauty of change and decay.
