Stanza 25 – Fertile Ground

Led by Sue Boyle

Sat 28 November at 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm GMT

£4.00 – £8.00
Poetry

The term ‘fertile ground’ as used in Coleridge’s ‘Kubla Khan’ is often considered a synonym for artistic inspiration. The afternoon will be exploring the way some other poets have written about their own ‘fertile ground’. We also want to dig deeper into the meaning of the word ‘fertile’ by examining the amount of skill and control required to shape the initial inspiration into poetic form, traditional or otherwise.

Stanza25 afternoons are organised in turn by different members of the group.

In this session, John Powell and Ann Preston will be curating presentations from (among others) Wells Stanza representative, poet and hand-made book artist Ama Bolton, Forward Poems of the Decade contributor Sue Boyle, Marilyn Francis, Simon Tyler and Corsham poet and novelist June Wentland who will be exploring the idea of finding ‘fertile ground’ for publishing and presenting your poetry.
