SAVE Britain’s Heritage campaigns against the needless and wasteful demolition of historic buildings of all types and ages across the UK, and fights for their re-use.

From the mighty Wentworth Woodhouse in Rotherham South Yorkshire and 400 terraced houses in Liverpool, to Marks & Spencer’s landmark HQ on Oxford Street, London, over their 50 year history there have been some mighty battles and high profile successes. In 1989, the charity began focussing attention on those most at risk with its Buildings At Risk register, arguing that restoration makes far more environmental and social sense than demolition and redevelopment.

Come along to hear about SAVE’s successes and failures through the years, some of which may surprise you, and hear about the buildings here in Bath and the wider South West that are listed on the register.

Henrietta Billings has been the Director of SAVE since 2016. She’s a chartered town planner and has worked in journalism, the Twentieth Century Society and a national planning consultancy.  She leads on major campaigns, and is involved with a number of other bodies involving architecture and its social impact.
