Have you ever wondered who built the Georgian buildings in Bath – not the architects, but those who actually put one stone on top of another, and much else besides.

How many were involved in building Bath’s new Town Hall, then called the “New Hall” and now the Guildhall? Who were they and what do we know about them? That’s what David Stubbs wondered, so he set out to find out.

This talk will give us insights into the building of the New Hall through the lives of over 70 men and women identified as actively involved in its construction.

David Stubbs is a retired Chartered Valuation Surveyor with a love of history. He’s been a volunteer in the Record Office since 2016 and a Mayor of Bath Guide for over 20 years. He’s also a member of a volunteer archaeology team for the National Trust.
