Wearable Health Technology
February 10, 2026
Smartphones and wearables now generate unprecedented insights into human health and behaviour, from predicting depression through typing patterns to detecting early-stage disease through heart rate variability.
This talk examines what a decade of research reveals about these technologies’ capabilities and limitations, the role of generative AI in this transformation and the persistent tensions between innovation, usability and privacy. Can digital health move from consumer gadgets to genuine clinical tools, and at what cost?
Dr Lukasz Piwek, School of Management, University of Bath.
This talk was arranged jointly with the Bath Medical Museum.
