Species Seen Early Crocus (Crocus tommasinianus)
Scientific Name
Recorder Rob Randall
Record Status Confirmed
Identified on 22/02/2021
Location ST6970
Locality Upton Cheyney
Parish Bitton
Habitat Corner of a field where a road crosses a small brook
Notes Well established and not in the sort of situation where it is likely to have been planted or dumped. Having said that it is within throwing-distance of the road. This species finds it easier to colonise areas than other cultivated species. Another name for it is Woodland Crocus so it is quite tolerant of shade.
