Species Seen | Early Crocus (Crocus tommasinianus) |
Scientific Name | |
Recorder | Rob Randall |
Record Status | Confirmed |
Identified on | 22/02/2021 |
Location | ST6970 |
Locality | Upton Cheyney |
Parish | Bitton |
Habitat | Corner of a field where a road crosses a small brook |
Notes | Well established and not in the sort of situation where it is likely to have been planted or dumped. Having said that it is within throwing-distance of the road. This species finds it easier to colonise areas than other cultivated species. Another name for it is Woodland Crocus so it is quite tolerant of shade. |
