Notes Patches of small orange blobs are often due to this species. Sometimes the main body of the lichen (the thallus) is a thin cracked crust as in this specimen, and sometimes completely embedded in the rock from which the orange fruiting bodies appear. They begin life +/- round but become misshapen as they mature.
