Species Seen | Toothwort |
Scientific Name | Lathraea squamaria L. |
Recorder | Simon Crampin |
Record Status | Confirmed |
Identified on | 08/04/2021 |
Location | ST750709 |
Locality | Monk Woods |
Notes | Unusual branched specimen seen. A few days earlier in the same vicinity I saw some plants that were pale creamy-yellow. Haven't seen that before, only the normal pinky-mauve form. All growing under hazel. I have never seen stems that are branched but flowers sometimes lack the pink pigment and on rare occasions flowers can be completely white. I have seen it in the past on Elm and Sycamore and at Claverton Manor it grows on Cherry Laurel - Rob Randall. |
