Bath Shakespeare Society

This friendly, lively society meets twice a month in central Bath, on Tuesdays from September to April, to read and discuss Shakespeare’s plays. Everyone gets a chance to read a part during the year. Each play has a convenor who casts the roles, so members can prepare their part before the reading.

We also organise theatre trips, especially to Bristol, and an Open Day in December. Each April we hold a special meeting at BRLSI to mark the anniversary of Shakespeare’s birth with a lecture by a guest speaker. The event is friendly and inclusive and all are welcome, no matter what your familiarity with the texts.

Follow the link below to view the 2023 lecture, given by Professor Ian Gadd, which celebrated the 400th anniversary of the publication of the First Folio of Shakespeare’s collected plays.
