Details

This pioneer Himalayan climber, famed for his exploits on the 1924 Everest Expedition with Mallory and Irvine, lived a full life, winning many gallantry medals in the first world war, and serving as Acting Governor in colonial Hong Kong where he ruffled feathers by insist-ing on proper defences against imminent Japanese invasion. We are challenged to compare his era with today’s very different values.
