Practical Reason

Professor John Broome, University of Oxford

David Hume claimed that 'reason is the discovery of truth or false-hood' and that 'reason alone can never be a motive to any action of the will'. What exactly is the role of reason and reasoning in action? This is one of philosophy's ancient questions.
