4 April 2017
BRLSI Philosophy co-convenor
The meaning of existence remains one of the fundamental questions that humanity has asked itself. Over the past millennia philosophy has strived to answer this conundrum or simply denied the validity of such a preposterous question. As a result we are bestowed with a plethora of philosophical perspectives, ranging from the supernatural to existentialism and a journey that can lead to faith, nihilism, scepticism, linguistics, idealism and entire metaphysical systems in between.
Perhaps, to find the answer, we should adopt a different perspective of fundamental concepts such as the self and existence; otherwise the meaning of existence may as well be 42.
