How Tolerant are we?

Discussion chaired by Professor Gerard Kilroy, University College London

We enhance the freedom of the individual, but restrict what is acceptable in public discourse, branding previously conventional views as ‘bigoted’. Religious belief, once seen as a bastion of society, is now seen as a form of ‘extremism’: authoritarian, and therefore unacceptable, especially in public figures: are we really that tolerant?
