Kosmoceras phaeinum (Buckman)

Scale bar = 5cm

Description

Upper Jurassic, Oxford Clay
Christian Malford
Wiltshire
England
M2116
Description:

This specimen is a microconch (small form) of this species of ammonite. The lappet extending from the shell is only seen in the microconch, the differences between microconch and macroconch (see M2128) of this species are probably due to sexual dimorphism (differences in shape and size between male and female).
