Urban Pollinators: Their Ecology and Conservation

25 April 2019

Professor Jane Memmott
University of Bristol
Cities have the potential to provide excellent conditions for pollinators. For example: there are more bee species in cities than in the surrounding country-side and rare pollinators have been found in allotments, road verges and cemeteries in the United Kingdom.
Urban pollinators also face some challenges and these include alien plants, habitat loss and over-zealous mowing. Professor Jane Memmott is a notable researcher in this area, and will talk about pleasures and pitfalls of working on urban pollinators, and provide suggestions to make your own urban patch
