Bath Trams Clearing the Air

01 April 2015

Bath once had a large, privately funded tramway. Reliance on cars for personal travel creates traffic congestion, health threatening toxic pollution and carbon emissions. If people switch from cars to trams, and with renewably generated power, there is a double environmental benefit. Trams also increase the passenger capacity of existing roads, and operate in many pedestrian streets safely.

The talk will focus on the principles involved in building a new tram net-work based on private funding, and perhaps if there is time discuss the way in which routes could be selected and designed for safe and accessible operation.
