Plecotus auritus (Brown Long-eared Bat), Thickwood, Colerne, ST8272

Frequency of Sighting

Found dead.

Species

Plecotus auritus (Linnaeus - 1758) (Brown Long-eared Bat)

Evidence

Found dead, almost certainly killed by cat. (Suggested by scratches around face and the fact that Long-eared bats' habit of flying close to the ground, or even landing to tackle prey, makes them vulnerable to attack by predators). Found within 5 metres of where I found a similar fatality in 2018. ( I am licensed to hold dead bats.)
