Poetry

The Poetry programme at Bath Royal was launched in autumn 2003, and since then we have had talks on poets such as John Donne, Wordsworth, Coleridge, Byron, Edward Thomas, Elizabeth Bishop, Edna St Vincent Millay, Charles Causley, Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath and many more.

BRLSI has marked the centenaries of: Elizabeth Barrett Browning, John Betjeman, WH Auden, Louis Macniece, Milton, Tennyson, and celebrated Seamus Heaney’s 70th birthday, and also holds a rather colourful celebration of the birth of Robert Burns each February with party, poetry, bagpipes, and often just a small tot of Whisky.

Each Saturday morning the Poet’s Voice holds a workshop for the budding poets among you. If you wish to get involved in either the poetry workshop or the programme at large then please contact reception@brlsi.org in the first instance and we will be delighted to put you in touch with our Poetry Convenor, Duncan McGibbon.

And if all that were not enough, you might wish to catch up with some old favorites via the poetry stream on our Virtual BRLSI YouTube Channel. Enjoy.
