Heritage

The Heritage programme at BRLSI started in 2023 with the aim of looking at the balance between preserving Bath as a unique city and the ever-present pressures of today.  Each presentation will consider a different facet of the city, how and why each developed in the way that they did, and what influence they have on everyday life today.

The first talk looks at the scientific causes of Bath’s past devastating floods, and whether we might see more in the future.  This is then followed by a series of talks over consecutive Wednesdays, each looking at one of the six reasons for UNESCO awarding Bath the unique status of being the only whole city in Britain (and one of the few in the world) to be a World Heritage Site.

After these, most talks will take place on the first Wednesday of every month.
