On the first floor there are facilities for full audio-visual presentations with
seating for groups of up to a hundred people, in a large room enjoying natural
daylight as well as full blackout capability. There are rooms interlinked to
this main space for other activities such as breakout sessions, reception areas
or catering. Arrangement of furniture within the rooms is flexible and we can
discuss your individual needs. Catering can be arranged.

A brief description of our rooms
ELWIN
One of the finest rooms in Bath; elegant, generously-proportioned with high
ceilings and good natural light from its large Georgian windows (all with
shutters) which give a superb view over Queen Square. The room also
features four 18th Century ceiling painting by Andrea Casali. A large drawdown
screen at one end, a loop for the hard of hearing and independently adjustable
spotlights make it ideal for film, lectures and presentations. Access is via two
staircases and a dda compliant lift. The Elwin interconnects with the Duncan,
Lonsdale and Murch rooms for larger conferences needing break-out rooms and/or a
room for refreshments.
Seating capacity: 100
DUNCAN
A well proportioned meeting room with good natural daylight facing west at the
rear of the building. Blinds to all windows. Ideal for presentations or larger
boardroom style meetings. Fluroescent lighting, loop for the hard of hearing,
access via two staircases and a dda compliant lift. The Duncan interconnects
with the Elwin and Lonsdale rooms, and has a newly-installed alcove kitchen,
making it ideal for events needing break-out rooms and/or refreshments.

JENYNS
The Jenyns Room, with its direct access from Queen Square, is the "Shop Window"
of the BRLSI, where we display items from our collections and hold art
exhibitions and receptions. Its contents mirror activities within the BRLSI and
events in Bath and the wider world. Although typically used for stand-up events,
seating can be installed. The space features adjustable lighting and a loop for
the hard of hearing, as well as a mini-bar for serving refreshments. Note that
the Jenyns room is open-plan with the BRLSI reception area and access route to
the main staircase, although screens can be installed.

MURCH
Our smallest room, though still comfortable for 15 people and with good natural
light from its west-facing window at the rear of the building. Suitable for
smaller meetings and informal gatherings, and ideal as an ante-room to the
Elwin, with which it interconnects at the speaker's end. Direct Access to
staircase.
Seating capacity: 15
LONSDALE
The famous 'dinosaur room' (it features a wall-mounted cast of a Plesiosaur),
now newly refurbished for boardroom-style events with a large table and a
selection of items from the BRLSI collections, giving fascinating insights into
the history and culture of Bath. With superb views over Queen Square and
independent access via our No. 18 entrance, the Lonsdale Room is ideal for
private meetings as well as small-to-medium scale receptions and award
ceremonies.
