A taxonomy of humour will be proposed, including verbal, musical and picture forms. An enquiry will be made into how and why the elements of this are important to our social currency and personal well-being. Kant, one of our most humorous philosophers, will be quoted. Reference will be made to related areas of psychology and therapy. Universality of humour will be questioned. Finally, an attempt is made to say whether humour has a place in philosophy or, for that matter, vice versa.
